Dream Team Manager
Build a winning line-up — in any competition your learner loves.
In this 8-week project, your learner becomes a team manager: analysing real competitors, exploring stats, designing strategies, and making thoughtful decisions based on evidence. Whether they choose a sport, an esports league, a judged performance, or a niche competition they adore, the project adapts to their interests.
It’s a blend of creativity, data, and strategy — where curiosity meets real-world thinking.
About this Project
Dream Team Manager invites learners to choose a competition they feel excited or curious about — anything from soccer to chess, gymnastics to speedcubing, esports to baking shows. Each week builds new layers: identifying key competitors, gathering meaningful stats, graphing and analysing data, designing strategy, and finally presenting their decisions with confidence.
Throughout the project, learners create their Dream Team Dossier — a growing collection of competitor cards, tables, graphs, strategy maps, and creative reflections. This Dossier becomes the place where they track their thinking, record their decisions, and bring their ideas together in a final pitch.
The project encourages learners to notice patterns, compare performance, and use evidence to justify their choices — all while following an interest that genuinely motivates them. It works beautifully for sports-obsessed kids, strategic thinkers, gamers, performers, and learners who love deep-dive analysis.
We’ve designed this project to be curriculum-aligned, neuro-affirming, and flexible, so you can follow your learner’s interests and pace.
What Your Learner Will Do
Over the 8 weeks, your learner will:
Choose a competition that excites them — sport, esports, performance, strategy game, racing, judged event, or something niche.
Create a team identity with names, colours, symbols, and style.
Research real competitors and build Competitor Cards that show their strengths.
Collect meaningful stats such as scores, times, rankings, accuracy, or judges’ scores.
Turn their data into simple graphs to spot patterns and compare performance.
Choose a final line-up and explain their reasoning using evidence.
Design a strategy that uses each competitor’s strengths in smart, intentional ways.
Create a report, commentary, spotlight, or visual summary of a key moment.
Build their Dream Team Dossier — a complete record of their decisions, analysis, and strategy.
Share a Final Pitch where they present their work in whatever format suits them best.
By the end of the project, your learner will have a thoughtful, evidence-based Dossier that shows how they made decisions like a real team manager — blending creativity, analysis, and strategic thinking.
