Free Project: The Monster Files

The Monster Files is a 4-week mini project for homeschoolers in Years 3–4 (Lower Key Stage 2). It’s designed to be gentle, flexible, and easy to fit into your routine — especially for learners who do best with low pressure and plenty of room to think.

Over the course of the project, your child will:

  • Take on the role of a Monster Researcher, noticing and recording details about an imagined living thing

  • Explore features and compare them with real animals

  • Think about environments and where a monster might live

  • Wonder about what a monster might need to survive

  • Share ideas through drawing, discussion, models, or short notes — in ways that suit them

There’s no requirement to finish anything, and all activities are designed to be optional and adaptable.

  • Easy to get started

You’ll likely have the supplies on hand, and we provide links to extra resources to inspire your child.
