Free Project: The Monster Files

The Monster Files is a 4-week mini project for homeschoolers in Years 3–4 (Lower Key Stage 2). It’s gentle, flexible, and easy to fit into your routine, and is designed especially for learners who do best with low pressure and plenty of room to think.

Over the course of the project, your child will:

  • Take on the role of a Monster Researcher, noticing and recording details about an imagined living thing

  • Explore features and compare them with real animals

  • Think about environments and where a monster might live

  • Wonder about what a monster might need to survive

  • Share ideas through drawing, discussion, models, or short notes in ways that suit them

There’s no requirement to finish anything, and all activities are designed to be optional and adaptable.
