What’s Next: A Sneak Peek at 2026 Projects
3 new projects
As 2025 draws to a close, we’re busy behind the scenes dreaming up what’s next for nuro co — new ideas, fresh projects, and even more ways to make homeschool learning creative, meaningful, and neuro-affirming.
To kick off 2026, we’ll be exploring three new projects that take curiosity and imagination in exciting new directions. They’re still in development, but here’s a little glimpse at what’s coming early in the year.
Hearts and Harvest: Life in the Valley
Big question: How can we design a thriving, sustainable community inspired by Stardew Valley?
In Hearts and Harvest, learners become the architects of their own valley — a world shaped by their values and creativity. Using the cosy farming-sim Stardew Valley as a springboard, this 8-week project blends imagination with real-world thinking about sustainability, relationships, and wellbeing.
Learners will map out their valley, plan its food and energy systems, design community spaces, and create traditions that reflect their world’s unique culture. By the end, they’ll bring it all together in The Valley Almanac — a collection of maps, stories, and designs that show what makes their community thrive.
Perfect for: Dreamers, planners, world-builders, and fans of cosy games who love to imagine new possibilities.
Subjects: Geography, Science, English, Maths, Creative Arts, HSIE
ReInventors
Big question: How can we turn old or overlooked materials into something new?
In ReInventors, learners take on the role of inventors, artists, and problem-solvers as they explore the creative potential of what others might throw away. This sustainability-focused project encourages students to collect materials, sketch ideas, prototype inventions, and reflect on how creativity can help the planet.
From reimagined tools to upcycled art installations, every invention tells a story about resourcefulness and design thinking. It’s a celebration of curiosity, innovation, and the power of rethinking waste.
Perfect for: Makers, tinkerers, and hands-on learners who love experimenting with ideas and materials.
Subjects: Science, Technology, Creative Arts, HSIE, Maths, English
Island Escape
Big question: What does it take to survive, adapt, and build a life on a new island?
Island Escape invites learners to imagine themselves shipwrecked (or choosing to stay!) on a mysterious island. Blending geography, science, and storytelling, they’ll explore ecosystems, shelter design, trade, and community cooperation — all while crafting creative solutions to survive and thrive.
Each week will layer problem-solving with real-world thinking, leading to a final Survival Guide — an illustrated manual filled with their discoveries, designs, and strategies for island life.
Perfect for: Adventurous learners, storytellers, and fans of survival or world-building games.
Subjects: Geography, Science, English, Maths, Creative Arts
A Glimpse at the Year Ahead
These upcoming projects mark just the beginning of what’s planned for 2026 — a year where we’ll keep expanding the ways curiosity can lead learning. Whether it’s building a thriving valley, reinventing materials, or surviving on a remote island, each project offers space for imagination, choice, and genuine discovery.
