Welcome to Cosplay Quest!

A homeschool project for learners who love characters, costumes, and creating things by hand

If your learner is always sketching outfits, imagining characters, or piecing together costumes, this project gives them a way to take those ideas further — without needing you to plan it all.

Cosplay Quest is an 8-week, ready-to-use project where your learner designs and creates their own costume while building real skills in design, making, and problem-solving.

No prep. No lesson planning. Just open and begin.

About this Project

This project gives your learner a clear structure for creating a costume from start to finish — without locking them into one way of doing it.

Across 8 weeks, they’ll move from ideas and inspiration through to planning, testing, and making, with space to follow their own interests at every step.

They might:

  • recreate a favourite character

  • design an original character

  • experiment with materials and techniques that feel interesting to them

Everything is designed to be:

  • flexible

  • low-pressure

  • easy to run at home

So instead of figuring out what to do next, you can step back and support your learner as they create something they’re genuinely proud of.

  • Flexible pace

Designed as an 8-week project, but fully flexible. Go faster or slower depending on your child.

  • Flexible format

Printable PDFs you can use online or offline.

  • Flexible subjects

This project covers English, Maths, Science, Technologies, HASS, HPE and The Arts.

  • Flexible support

Designed for learners in years 5-6, with built-in suggestions for neuro-affirming adjustments.

What Your Learner Will Do

Over 8 weeks, your learner will:

  • explore costume ideas and find inspiration from characters or their own imagination

  • sketch and plan their design in a way that works for them

  • experiment with materials like fabric, foam, paper, or upcycled items

  • test ideas, solve problems, and adapt their design as they go

  • learn how to use tools and materials safely

  • create and share a finished cosplay piece

Some learners will go all-in on making. Others will spend more time designing, sketching, or experimenting.

Both are valid — and both are part of the learning.

What’s included
