About This Project
Move It! is an 8-week home education project for learners in Years 3–4 (Lower KS2) who think best when they’re moving.
In this project, your child becomes a movement experimenter. Using everyday spaces and simple objects, they try playful challenges, adjust one rule at a time, and notice how small changes affect balance, control, speed and difficulty.
Instead of reading about forces and motion, learners explore them directly through movement.
What happens when you slow down?
What changes when you jump instead of step?
Why does widening your stance make balancing easier?
Across eight weeks, learners try playful starter challenges, remix the rules, and gradually build their own Challenge Kit – a small collection of movement challenges they have tested and refined themselves.
Learning unfolds through experimentation, iteration and reflection, making Move It! an engaging option for children who learn best when their bodies are part of the learning process.
Who This Project Is For
Move It! works especially well for learners who:
Prefer moving and experimenting to sitting still
Enjoy inventing games or physical challenges
Like testing ideas and adjusting rules
Learn best through hands-on experience
Need learning that feels active and playful
Benefit from short, repeatable activities rather than long written tasks
It’s also a strong fit for learners who:
Have high physical energy
Struggle with desk-based learning
Enjoy obstacle courses or playground challenges
Like figuring out how things work through trial and error
Prefer flexible, open-ended learning
What Your Child Will Do
Over the 8 weeks, your child may:
Try playful movement challenges using everyday objects
Change one rule at a time and test what happens
Explore balance, control, speed and direction
Design their own pathways and obstacle layouts
Create simple Challenge Cards to record favourite activities
Adapt challenges for different spaces or situations
Invent a brand-new movement challenge
Remix existing challenges by changing the rules
Build a personalised Challenge Kit of tested activities
Use their kit to create mini courses or quick movement sessions
Learners decide how to record their ideas and how much detail to include.
Some may draw diagrams or write notes. Others may prefer photos, video, or simply explaining their ideas aloud.
Movement and experimentation remain the focus.
