Uncharted! | 8-Week Homeschool Project

$99.00

A calm, real-world inquiry project with room to notice, question, and understand.

About This Project

Uncharted! is an 8-week homeschool project for learners in Stage 2, designed to support observation, inquiry, and thoughtful reflection through the sustained study of a real place.

In this project, your learner becomes a field researcher. They choose a real, local place such as a backyard, park, reserve, or shared space, and revisit it over time. They notice its features, observe how people use it, explore patterns and change, and consider how environments shape behaviour.

Rather than asking learners to redesign or fix a place, this project focuses on understanding how places work.

Over eight weeks, learners:

  • Notice physical and sensory features

  • Observe movement and routines

  • Explore boundaries and comfort

  • Identify patterns over time

  • Reflect on what makes a place easier or harder to use

Learning unfolds through observation, discussion, mapping, comparison, and reflection.

Uncharted! balances structure with genuine choice, making it a supportive option for learners who benefit from calm, low-pressure engagement with the real world.

Who This Project Is For

Uncharted! works especially well for learners who:

  • Prefer thinking and observing to building and performing

  • Enjoy asking “why does this work this way?”

  • Benefit from revisiting the same idea over time

  • Need flexibility around pace and output

  • Feel overwhelmed by highly structured tasks

  • Learn best through discussion and lived experience

It’s also a strong fit for learners who:

  • Like maps, spaces, or environmental details

  • Are interested in how people move and interact

  • Notice sensory elements others miss

  • Prefer quiet, reflective learning

  • Thrive when given agency over their focus

What Your Learner Will Do

Over the 8 weeks, your learner may:

  • Choose and study a real local place

  • Identify features and characteristics of the environment

  • Notice patterns across different times and conditions

  • Observe how people interact with space

  • Create simple maps or diagrams

  • Compare easier and harder moments

  • Identify supports that help people use a place

  • Prepare a Field Report to share key insights

  • Reflect on how their understanding changed over time

Learners choose what to record, what to share, and how deeply to go.

There is no requirement to redesign, improve, or “solve” the place.
Understanding is the focus.
